Not Standing Alone
“When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone… Aaron and Hur held up his hands.”
Exodus 17:12
Moses is a very familiar biblical figure to us—a great leader used by God. Yet in the midst of the battle against Amalek, Moses grew weary. The hands lifted in prayer began to fall, and at that moment, Aaron and Hur stepped in to support him.
This story reminds us that even those who are strong in faith can grow tired. God did not design us to carry everything alone. He provides community so that we can support one another, especially when our strength begins to run out.
Aaron and Hur did not replace Moses; they stood beside him. They did their part so that Moses could continue to fulfill his calling. In the same way, within a spiritual community, we are called to support one another, not to bring each other down.
What To Do:
1. Realize that you do not have to walk your faith journey alone.
2. Pray for the people God has placed around you to support you in your community.
3. Be someone who is sensitive and ready to support others when they are weary.
