Today’s devotion is titled:
Not Just Busy, But Called

“Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.”
— Proverbs 29:18

Have you ever felt exhausted from your daily busyness—school, work, ministry, endless tasks—but still felt empty inside? Sometimes it’s not because you’re doing too little, but because you’ve lost sight of why and for whom you’re doing it. Busyness without purpose drains us, but a calling from God gives meaning to every step we take.

Let’s look at the story of Martha and Mary. Martha was busy preparing many things, while Mary sat quietly at Jesus’ feet, listening to Him. When Martha complained, Jesus gently reminded her that Mary had chosen the better part. This shows us that God doesn’t just see how hard we work—He looks at how deeply we understand His calling behind that work.

God calls us not only to work hard, but to work with a heavenly purpose. He wants us to involve Him in every activity, no matter how small. When we know that we’re working because God has called us there, even the simplest tasks become an act of worship that delights His heart.

So don’t just be busy—find your direction and calling. Without a calling, busyness only wears us out. But when we walk in our calling, every act of work becomes living worship to God.

What to Do:
1. Reflect which part of your routine do you need to surrender back to God so He can give it new direction?
2. Say a simple prayer: “Lord, change how I see my work. I don’t want to just stay busy I want to live in Your calling.”
