Today’s devotional is titled:
Not a Right, But a Gift
“For what do you have that you did not receive?”
1 Corinthians 4:7
To be honest… sometimes we feel like life is just supposed to be this way. Waking up in the morning, being alive, having opportunities, having family, having church, having friends. Everything feels normal until we forget: all of that isn’t a right—it’s a gift.
Gratitude begins when we realize that life isn’t something we can demand, but something God has entrusted to us. The breath we have today, the chance to learn, health, even the strength to keep going—those are all grace.
The problem is, when we see life as a right, we complain so easily. But when we realize life is a gift, our hearts become softer and more thankful—even on ordinary days.
Gratitude isn’t about having a perfect life, but about realizing: “God doesn’t owe me anything, yet He still gives.”
And from that awareness, we learn to live with more humility and to value every day more deeply.
What To Do:
1. Name 3 simple things today that are actually God’s gifts.
2. Start your day with a short prayer: “God, thank You for life today.”
3. Complain less, increase awareness—see today as a gift, not an obligation.
