Today’s Devotional:
New Focus, New Direction

“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”
— Psalm 16:8

In a world full of distractions, we often live with hundreds of tabs open—notifications, school pressure, social comparison, identity struggles. Our focus shifts constantly, and without realizing it, our hearts get tired and unstable. Psalm 16:8 reminds us that stability doesn’t come from what we look at, but from who we fix our eyes on.

David chose to look to the Lord consistently. Not just a quick glance, but placing God as the main point of focus. When Jesus becomes the center of our attention and direction, our steps grow steady. A new year is more than a calendar change—it’s an invitation to leave behind the old draining focus and turn our eyes toward Jesus, the One who gives direction.

Imagine riding a bike or motorcycle. If you keep looking to the side or behind, you’ll wobble. You might even fall. But when your eyes stay fixed on a point ahead, your ride becomes stable, balanced, and you reach your destination faster. That’s exactly how our spiritual life works. When we keep staring at our past, fears, or the noise of social media, we easily lose direction. But when we fix our eyes on Jesus, our path becomes clearer and our hearts more at peace.

As the year comes to a close, take a simple step: reduce the unnecessary noise, start your day by looking to Jesus with a short prayer, set one realistic spiritual goal, and surround yourself with a community that builds you up. Your old focus may have made you shaky, but focusing on Jesus keeps you steady. Before stepping into the new year, use this moment to train a new focus. Let Jesus be your destination—because when He’s in front, you won’t be shaken.

What to Do:

Shift your focus to Jesus every morning.

Make one concrete decision to leave your old focus behind.
