Today’s Devotional:
Mary Wasn’t Busy, but She Was Full
“Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
— Luke 10:42
When Jesus visited the house of Mary and Martha, Martha was busy serving, organizing, and making sure everything went well. But Mary sat quietly at Jesus’ feet and listened. When Martha complained, Jesus gently said that Mary had chosen the better part.
In today’s Gen Z era—full of notifications, deadlines, and constant hustle—we often feel like we have to stay productive all the time. But spiritual minimalism doesn’t mean being passive; it means choosing what truly matters: the presence of God. Mary wasn’t against working—she just knew when to pause and be present. She didn’t get trapped in busyness that dries the soul. She chose to be full, not busy.
Busyness can make us look active on the outside but empty on the inside. God isn’t looking for a packed schedule; He’s looking for a present heart. Mary teaches us that intimacy with God is far more valuable than achievements born from restless activity.
Spiritual minimalism isn’t about doing less—it’s about prioritizing presence. It’s not about looking spiritual but truly being connected with God. In a fast-paced world, God calls us to slow down—so we can hear His voice more clearly.
What To Do:
1. Choose to Sit, Not Run
Take 10 minutes today to sit quietly before God. Turn off your phone, close your laptop, and let your heart be still. Listen, don’t just talk.
2. Cut What’s Unnecessary
Identify one activity or habit that drains your time but doesn’t nourish your spirit. Be brave enough to reduce it so your heart has space for God.
3. Prioritize Presence Over Pressure
Before starting your day, pray: “Lord, help me choose the better part today.” Let your priorities be shaped by love, not stress.
