Today’s Devotional Title:
Love With Self Control
Proverbs 25:28
“A person without self-control is like a city whose walls are broken down.”
Love without self-control seems exciting and free, but it is actually fragile. Proverbs says that a person who cannot control themselves is like a city without walls—easy to attack and unprotected. The same goes for relationships that are lived without healthy boundaries. Feelings can take over, and ultimately decisions are made not with wisdom, but with momentary impulses.
It’s natural to feel attraction and affection. But when emotions take control without restraint, we can go further than we should. Self-control doesn’t mean killing feelings, but directing them according to God’s will. That’s where love becomes mature—not only strong in feeling, but also strong in character.
God wants us to have “walls” in our lives and relationships. Not to limit love, but to protect our hearts, faith, and future. Healthy love knows when to stop, when to wait, and when to say enough.
Love with self-control means we value God’s plan more than momentary impulses. Guarding ourselves today is an investment for a more complete and blessed future.
What To Do?
1. Evaluate the boundaries in your relationships—what needs to be clarified?
2. Ask God to help you control your emotions.
3. Remember, protecting yourself now is a form of love for your future.
