Love That Reveals God
Leviticus 19:18
“Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.”
Hi, Rehobot Youth! Many people think that a spiritual life is measured only by how often someone worships, prays, reads the Bible, or participates in church activities. All of that is important, but our relationship with God must also be reflected in how we treat others. After all, love for God cannot be separated from love for our neighbors.
In Leviticus 19, God gives the Israelites a very clear command: do not seek revenge and do not hold a grudge, but love your neighbor as yourself. Interestingly, God concludes this command with the words, “I am the LORD.” This means that love for others is not merely a good moral value, but rather an integral part of the life of a people who know God and live for Him. Who God is—the One we worship—should influence how we treat others.
Rehobot Youth, this kind of love becomes most evident when loving feels difficult. When someone disappoints us, the easiest response might be to retaliate, withdraw, or hold a grudge. However, a close relationship with God shapes us to take a different path. We learn to forgive, to listen, to show compassion, and to continue doing good. Through these actions, God’s character is increasingly reflected in our lives.
Therefore, Rehobot Youth, do not let your spiritual life stop at a personal relationship with God. Let the love you receive from Him flow to those around you. True spirituality not only brings us closer to God but also transforms the way we love others. When God’s love is made real through our lives, others can see a reflection of His character in our attitudes and actions.
What To Do?
1. Learn to let go of grudges and forgive people who hurt you.
2. Be present and give attention to those who need it.
3. Love others sincerely, not based on their feelings or treatment.
