Today’s Devotion Is Titled:
Love That Makes Room

“When Barnabas arrived and saw the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts.”
— Acts 11:23

In differences and conflicts, young people are often driven to defend themselves, hold tightly to their opinions, or impose their will. Yet, God’s Word reminds us that love and truth should never be set against each other—they must walk together. Barnabas is a living example of how mature love is able to make room without losing direction.

Barnabas was known as the “son of encouragement.” He was not quick to judge, but sensitive to seeing God’s grace at work in the lives of others. Even when a sharp conflict arose between him and Paul regarding John Mark, Barnabas chose to give a second chance. His decision was not a sign of weakness, but a conviction that God was still at work in Mark’s life. Time proved this true—Mark grew and was used by God in extraordinary ways, even writing a Gospel.

From Barnabas, we learn that facing differences is not about winning or losing, but about remaining faithful to the truth wrapped in love. Love that makes room does not mean ignoring principles; it means trusting that God is able to grow people through process. Young people are called to grow in maturity: not every conflict must be avoided, but every conflict can become an opportunity to reflect the character of Christ.

Love that makes room opens the way for spiritual growth—for others and for ourselves. When we choose to love amid differences, we are building the body of Christ with hearts that are healthy, humble, and full of hope.

What to Do?
1. When facing differences, choose to make room for others to grow.
2. Learn to give counsel with love, not judgment.
3. Remember Barnabas: love that gives opportunity can give birth to greater ministry.
