Living with the Mindset of the Kingdom of God
Matthew 5:9
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
Hi, Rehobot Youth! Every kingdom has its own values and way of life. The Kingdom of God is no exception. The world often teaches us to retaliate when we’re hurt, defend our pride when we’re humiliated, or prove that we’re right when conflict arises. However, Jesus shows us a different path. One of the characteristics of God’s children is being peacemakers.
Imagine a soldier who carries out his duties based on his commander’s orders, not merely following his own desires. He needs to understand the purpose and the values worth fighting for. Likewise, as followers of Christ, we are called to learn to view life according to God’s will. We may have the urge to retaliate, get angry, or win an argument, but the mindset of the Kingdom of God teaches us to ask, “What kind of response reflects God’s character?”
Rehobot Youth, bringing peace does not mean avoiding all conflict, always giving in, or agreeing with everything. There are times when we must still speak the truth and resolve issues. However, we do so with love, humility, and the goal of restoring, not of bringing others down. When we choose to listen rather than immediately judge, to forgive rather than hold a grudge, and to seek resolution rather than escalate a quarrel, we are embodying the values of the Kingdom of God in our daily lives.
Therefore, Rehobot Youth, do not let the world’s mindset determine your response. Let God’s Word shape the way you view conflict, differences, and the people around you. The mindset of the Kingdom of God doesn’t always ask, “How can I win?” but rather, “How can the character of Christ be seen through my response?” When we live by the values of the Kingdom of God, our very presence will bring peace and serve as a testimony to God’s love.
What To Do?
1. Consider whether your response brings peace or escalates the problem.
2. Face conflict with love and truth.
3. Ask God to shape your mind through His Word.
