Today’s Devotional Title:
Listening to God’s Voice
1 Samuel 3:10
The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
Truth Kids friends, have you ever been called by your mom but didn’t hear because you were too busy playing or watching TV? Sometimes we’re so distracted that we don’t respond when someone calls us. In the Bible, there was a boy named Samuel who was also called — but by God! At that time, he lived in the house of God with the priest Eli. When Samuel heard his name being called at night, he thought it was Eli. But after the third time, Eli realized that it was the Lord who was calling him.
Samuel wasn’t angry or scared. He answered humbly, “Speak, for your servant is listening.” From that moment on, God began to speak to Samuel and use him as a faithful prophet — one who bravely shared God’s word with the people of Israel.
From Samuel’s story, we learn that God can speak to anyone — even children! When we are willing to obey and listen, God can use us for amazing things. When you pray, don’t just do all the talking — take time to quiet your heart and listen to what God wants to say.
Come on, Truth Kids friends! Let’s be like Samuel — sensitive, obedient, and ready to hear God’s voice. God loves to use children whose hearts are gentle and willing to be led by Him!
