Today’s devotional is titled:
Life Is a Gift.

“Behold, You have made my days a few handbreadths, and my lifetime is as nothing before You. Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath.”
Psalm 39:5

Have you ever realized that life isn’t a right, but a gift? Many people feel like their life automatically belongs to them and can be lived however they want. But the Psalm reminds us that our time is limited, and every second is a gift from God. This awareness makes us more humble and not easily proud.

Job is a real example. Even though he lost everything—his wealth, family, and health—he still realized that life comes from God. Job said, “The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away.” From his story we learn that true gratitude appears when we understand that life is not a right we can demand, but a gift that must be lived faithfully.

Young people today often get trapped in an entitlement mindset: feeling like they deserve attention, deserve quick success, or deserve the freedom to do anything they want. But when we realize life is a gift, we’ll value time, opportunities, and the people around us more. Living rightly becomes our way of saying “thank you” to God.

This awareness makes life more meaningful. When we know life is a gift, we won’t waste it on empty things. Instead, we’ll use every moment to obey, to be faithful, and to be a blessing. That’s what true gratitude looks like—not just words, but a lifestyle that honors the Giver of Life.

What to Do?
1. Reflect: which part of your life do you often treat as a “right,” when it is actually a gift?
2. Start appreciating small things (time, health, relationships) as God’s gifts.
3. Show gratitude by living rightly: be honest, faithful, and humble.
