Letting Go for God’s Plan
“Go and tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord says: Are you the one to build me a house to dwell in?”
— 2 Samuel 7:5
Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever felt disappointed because a prayer or a dream didn’t come true? Perhaps you worked hard to get into a specific school, land a desired position, or hoped for something to happen in your life, only to receive an answer that didn’t match your expectations.
King David experienced something similar. After God granted him victory and peace, David had a deep desire to build the Temple of God. That desire was good—it even sounded very spiritual. Yet, God said “no.” It wasn’t because God didn’t value David’s heart, but because He had a different plan. The Temple would be built by Solomon, David’s son, not by David himself.
Even so, David didn’t become bitter or stop serving God. He remained faithful in preparing everything needed for the Temple’s construction. David learned that not every good dream has to be fulfilled by himself. Sometimes, God asks us to let go of something we want so that His greater plan can unfold.
The same can happen in our lives. There are times when God doesn’t grant what we ask for—not because He doesn’t love us, but because He sees further than we do. What we perceive as a loss might actually be God’s way of steering us toward a purpose that aligns better with His will.
Rehobot Youth, when God says “no,” don’t immediately assume He is rejecting you. Sometimes, a “no” is God’s way of reminding us that His plan is greater than our dreams. Trust that God is never wrong in leading the lives of His children.
What to Do?
• Learn to accept God’s answers, even when they do not align with your desires.
• Remain faithful in fulfilling the responsibilities God has entrusted to you today.
• Trust that God’s plan is always better than anything you can imagine.
