Today’s devotional is titled:
Let’s Listen to God
1 Samuel 3:10
“The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’ Then Samuel said, ‘Speak, for your servant is listening.’”
Truth Junior Friends, have you ever felt unsure whether to help a friend or just keep playing? Sometimes we wonder if God can help us choose what’s right. The answer is—yes, He can! God always wants to guide children who are willing to listen.
At home or at school, we might see friends who like to lie, make fun of others, or ignore advice. Sometimes we ourselves get lazy to pray or don’t feel like going to church. Deep down, we know it’s not right, but we don’t always know what to do.
Long ago, there was a boy named Samuel. He lived in the house of God with Eli the priest. One night, God called his name, “Samuel! Samuel!” At first, Samuel didn’t know it was God’s voice. After Eli explained it to him, Samuel answered, “Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.” From that moment on, Samuel always listened and obeyed God. He didn’t pretend to be asleep—he opened his heart. God then used Samuel to lead and correct the people of Israel—and it all started when he was just a child!
God also wants to speak to us, Truth Junior Friends. Maybe not through a voice we can hear, but through the Bible, Sunday school teachers, parents, or our own hearts. When we choose to listen and obey from a young age, God can use us to bring light and goodness wherever we go.
So, when you face a tough choice or see something wrong, remember this: open your ears, listen to God’s voice, and do what’s right!
