Let Kindness Win
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Romans 12:21
When we are betrayed, hurt, or bullied, those uncomfortable feelings are very real. We may try to hold back from retaliating, yet the desire to repay the same treatment still arises. Sometimes, there is even a strong urge in our hearts to see them feel the same pain we experienced.
These feelings are human. However, God’s Word invites us to pause and ask: Will repaying evil with evil truly heal our wounds? Is God pleased when we entertain thoughts of retaliation? Romans 12:21 reminds us that when we repay evil with evil, we are actually allowing evil to control our hearts.
Choosing goodness does not mean ignoring the pain we feel. Kindness is a decision not to let bitterness define who we are. By choosing goodness, we protect the integrity of our hearts and give God space to work for restoration.
Jesus Himself faced insults, rejection, and violence, yet He did not respond with hatred. He demonstrated that love and kindness have greater power than evil. When we choose goodness, we are declaring that our wounds will not be the end of our story.
What To Do:
1. Acknowledge your feelings before God without hiding them.
2. Surrender your pain and anger to God, asking for strength to respond wisely.
3. Take one act of kindness today, no matter how small, as a response to God’s Word.
