Today’s devotional is titled:
Lack Is Not Your Identity
“He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I glory all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
2 Corinthians 12:9
Guys, have you ever felt inadequate? Insufficiently intelligent, talented, experienced, or confident? And because of that inadequacy, you immediately label yourself a failure?
We live in an age that constantly tells us you have to be perfect. You have to have it all. You have to be flawless. Until, every time we see a flaw in ourselves, the only thought that comes to mind is, “I’m a failure.” But God never says that. Paul, one of God’s extraordinary disciples, had a thorn in his flesh that made him feel weak and inadequate. He had asked God three times to remove it. But God’s answer? My grace is sufficient for you.
Your shortcomings are not a barrier to God’s work; in fact, they are where He wants to show His power. Being deficient doesn’t mean failure. They are a way for God to prove that He is more than enough. When we feel we are all alone, that’s when His grace is revealed. When we are weak, that’s when His strength is perfect.
So if today you feel inadequate, remember, “God doesn’t need a perfect version of you. He wants to use you as you are, with your flaws, weaknesses, and limitations. Because in His hands, less can become more than enough. You haven’t failed. You’re just in God’s process of showing that He is greater than all your shortcomings.”
What To Do:
1. Write down one weakness that often makes you feel like a failure, then surrender it to God in prayer.
2. Change your mindset: every time you think, “I’m not enough,” remind yourself, “But God’s grace is sufficient for me.”
3. Find a testimony in the Bible or around you about someone God used despite feeling inadequate to strengthen your confidence!
