Today’s devotion titled:
Joy in Willing Giving

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7

Have you ever felt regret after giving? Or perhaps you found it hard to give because you were afraid of lacking afterward? God’s Word reminds us not to give with sadness or under pressure. It means that God wants us to learn to release what we have with a willing heart.

God Himself sets the perfect example—He sends rain on both the good and the bad. His giving is never based on favoritism or calculation. Every time we give with joy, we reflect His generous heart. Our giving becomes an expression of love, not obligation.

In 2 Corinthians 9, Paul spoke to the believers in Corinth who had promised to support his ministry. Since the early church, giving has always been a sign of love and unity among believers. Paul reminded them that their offering should come not from compulsion, but from a heart filled with generosity. The principle is clear: giving is not about loss or gain, but about the posture of a heart that is willing and compassionate.

When we give with joy, we are participating in God’s work. Don’t see giving as losing something, but as an opportunity to honor God. The wealth we release may fade away, but the joy and reward in heaven will never end. What matters most is not the amount we give, but the sincerity of our hearts when we give. Remember—the joy of giving is a reflection of God’s own joy.

What to Do:
1. Recall the things you’ve given before whether money, time, or energy. Pray over them, release them, and don’t wait for repayment.
2. Start small: set aside Rp10.000 (or any small amount) in your wallet today just to bless someone.
