Joy Beyond Circumstances
John 15:11
“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever felt that your joy is heavily influenced by your circumstances? When everything is going smoothly, it’s easy to be grateful and enthusiastic. But when plans fall through, grades don’t meet expectations, relationships start to falter, or prayers go unanswered, that joy slowly fades. Without realizing it, we often let our circumstances dictate the state of our hearts.
Jesus teaches something different. In John 15, He says that His joy can dwell within us so that our joy may be complete. This joy comes from a close relationship with Christ—abiding in His love and living according to His will. This means that the source of our joy is not ever-changing circumstances, but the unchanging God.
Rehobot Youth, the world offers many things that seem to bring us happiness: achievements, popularity, relationships, or various other pleasures. All of these can indeed bring momentary joy, but none of them can fully satisfy the human heart. When our lives are rooted in Christ, we receive peace and hope that endure, even when circumstances don’t go as we’d like. That is the joy that does not depend on circumstances.
Therefore, Rehobot Youth, don’t let circumstances control your joy. Build a close relationship with God every day. The more you abide in His love, the more you’ll realize that true joy isn’t a life without problems, but a life lived with a faithful God through every season of life.
What To Do?
1. Notice what most often makes your heart go up and down.
2. Spend more time in God’s Word and prayer each day.
3. Learn to remain grateful in all circumstances.
