Inside Out
“As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.” – Proverbs 27:19
The Mirroring Principle is the concept that whatever is in a person’s heart or mind will be reflected in their attitude, words, and actions. It is like a mirror, the state of the inner self is outwardly revealed, whether consciously or not. When applied to ministry, this principle reminds us that ministry is not just about what we do, but about who we are in God.
What is hidden in the heart will slowly shine through our attitudes, tone of voice, decisions, and even in the exhaustion we carry. Ministry includes all aspects of our lives, so if we serve with a heart craving recognition, we’ll be easily hurt when we’re not appreciated. But if we serve with a heart filled with Christ’s love, joy will remain even when we are unseen by others.
God is never in a hurry to see the results of our ministry, but He deeply cares about the process especially what is being formed within our hearts. Ministry is a mirror. It reflects our inner condition. And before we plan our ministry schedules, God longs for us to first let Him tend to our hearts. When the heart is kept pure before God, life flows from within, bringing refreshment, blessing, and pointing people to Christ, not to ourselves.
What to Do:
1. Prioritize intimacy with Him over mere ministry activity.
2. After every ministry activity, take a moment for self-reflection.
