Today’s reflection is titled:
Identity Begins with Closeness to God

James 3:17
“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.”

Rehobot Youth, in this day and age, it is very easy to form an identity based on what others think of us. Follower counts, likes, achievements, appearance, or social validation are often used as measures of self-worth. Consequently, many young people constantly strive to meet the expectations of others, yet remain feeling empty and confused about who they truly are. Yet, an identity built upon human judgment will always shift with changing circumstances.

The Bible teaches that a solid identity is built through wisdom that comes from God. This wisdom is born out of a close relationship with the Lord. Intellectual intelligence (IQ) enables us to think clearly, and emotional intelligence (EQ) helps us understand ourselves and others. However, only closeness to God (SQ) enables us to see ourselves as God sees us. When we live close to Him, we no longer seek self-worth from the world, but rather from the love and purpose God has established for our lives.

Rehobot Youth, building spirituality is not merely about diligently attending services or knowing many Bible verses. Spirituality is a life that continually grows in relationship with God through prayer, His Word, and obedience. The more we know God, the more we know ourselves. His wisdom shapes our mindset, character, and decisions, ensuring our identity is not easily shaken by trends, peer pressure, or the ever-changing standards of the world.

Therefore, Rehobot Youth, do not focus solely on developing your IQ and EQ. Build your spiritual life as well, for spiritual intelligence (SQ) serves as the foundation that guides the other aspects of your life. When God is the center of your life, you no longer need to constantly prove yourself to gain acceptance from others. You can live with confidence as someone loved by God, called to a noble purpose, and equipped with His wisdom to lead a life that pleases Him.

What To Do?
1. Build your identity in God.
2. Grow closer to God each day.
3. Make God’s wisdom the foundation of your life.
