I Am a Keeper of God’s World

“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” – Genesis 2:15

From the very beginning of creation, the Lord God gave a special task to humans: to work and take care of His creation. God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden not only to enjoy its beauty but also to guard and nurture it.

God created nature, but He entrusted us to manage it wisely. That means we are not the owners of this world—we are caretakers or stewards trusted by God.

Imagine if you borrowed something valuable from a friend. Of course, you would have to take good care of it and return it in good condition, right? It’s the same with this world. God has “lent” the universe to us so that we may care for it, not destroy it.

Sometimes we think, “Oh, it’s just one piece of trash thrown carelessly,” or “It’s fine to leave the light on.” But small actions like these can have big impacts, especially if everyone does them. On the other hand, small good actions can become acts of obedience to God.

Obedience is not only shown when we pray or go to church, but also when we take care of the environment—throwing trash in its place, saving water, not pulling out plants carelessly, turning off electricity when it’s not in use, and more. Every small action you take to care for God’s creation is a form of service and worship that pleases Him.
