Gratitude Through the Music of Life

“Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Hallelujah!”
Psalm 150:6

Have you ever felt that music can be a simple way to express gratitude? Many young people use music as a form of self-expression, but when music is used to glorify God, it becomes a real and tangible expression of gratitude. The Psalm reminds us that everything that has breath—including through works of art—is called to praise the Lord.

A real example we can see is Michael W. Smith, an international Christian musician who has remained consistent in using his music to glorify God. Even after decades of creating and performing, he doesn’t demand popularity or human praise. Instead, he continues to emphasize that music is an offering of gratitude to God.

So, when we live rightly and glorify God, it shouldn’t become a stage for demanding recognition. Instead, we use our talents as an expression of gratitude. Whether through music, art, or daily activities, everything can become a “song of life” that glorifies God.

When we stop demanding and start being thankful, life becomes lighter. The music of our hearts will sound beautiful—not because the notes are perfect, but because our attitude is right. That’s a real way to show that we are aware of God: life becomes praise, not a demand.

What to Do?
1. Use your talent or hobby as an expression of gratitude, not just to seek recognition.
2. Train your heart to stop demanding, and start being thankful for the small things.
3. Make your life a “song” that glorifies God every day.
