Friends Who Help You Level Up
1 Corinthians 15:33
“Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’”
Friendships are like a playlist some songs lift you up, others bring you down. Same with friends: some help you grow, while others keep you stuck. That’s why it’s so important to check your circle: are they making your life more positive, or are they pulling you off track?
Take Billie Eilish as an example, an international musician loved by Gen Z. Billie often shares how the support of people close to her gave her the courage to explore music honestly, without following trends that didn’t fit her. A healthy team and circle helped her grow not just as an “icon,” but as a more mature person. From this, we learn: the right friends can be a huge push for growth.
On the other hand, if your circle is toxic always tearing you down, making you insecure, or pulling you away from God it’s like a song that constantly kills your vibe. We need to realize that not every friendship is a place to grow. Sometimes we have to be brave enough to say “enough” so our lives don’t keep getting dragged in the wrong direction.
God teaches us to be wise in choosing who we allow to be close to our lives. It’s not about shutting ourselves off from others, but about recognizing who truly supports our growth. A healthy circle of friends helps us grow—encouraging us to become stronger, more mature, and to walk more closely with God.
What to Do?
1. Evaluate your circle: who helps you move forward, and who holds you back.
2. Choose close friends who can be a healthy support system, not ones who drag you down.
3. Learn to be a positive friend yourself—don’t just look for good friends, but be one who helps others grow.
