Forgive Yourself

Romans 8:1
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t forgiving others, but forgiving ourselves. We might feel like we’ve failed, made a mistake, or let ourselves down. Those feelings are real, but if we keep punishing ourselves, our hearts will never be free. God wants us to learn that self-forgiveness is a decision of faith, not something we wait for until we feel better.

As young people, we often feel unworthy when we’ve made a big mistake. But if we remain trapped in guilt, we won’t move forward. Forgiving ourselves means believing that God has removed the punishment, and we have the right to walk with a free heart. That doesn’t mean we downplay our mistakes, but we choose not to be bound by the past anymore.

Self-forgiveness opens the door for God to restore and use our lives. When we choose to forgive ourselves, we are honoring the work of Christ’s cross, which has already redeemed all our mistakes. From there, we can learn to accept ourselves with love, and then become a blessing to others.

What to Do?
• Take time for personal prayer, confess your mistakes before God, and then choose to forgive yourself.
• Write down one positive thing about yourself every day as a sign that you are learning to accept yourself with God’s love.
