Emotions Led by God

Ephesians 4:26-27
“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.”

Hi, Rehobot Youth! Many people think that being spiritual means never getting angry, sad, disappointed, or afraid. Consequently, some try to hide their emotions to appear “fine.” Yet, the Bible never says that having emotions is a sin. What God desires is for us to learn to manage our emotions correctly. Spirituality does not mean losing our feelings, but rather allowing God to lead every feeling we have.

Ephesians 4:26-27 shows that anger itself is not a sin. However, unmanaged anger can lead us into sin and open the door for the devil to damage our lives and relationships. This is where a personal relationship with God becomes crucial. When we come to God in prayer and surrender every struggle to Him, the Holy Spirit helps us control our responses so we are not mastered by fleeting emotions.

Rehobot Youth, spirituality is not something rigid or exclusive. A close relationship with God is actually seen in very tangible things: how we respond to criticism, face disappointment, forgive those who hurt us, and continue to speak with love when emotions are running high. The closer we live to God, the more the character of Christ shapes the way we think, feel, and act.

Therefore, Rehobot Youth, do not try to control your emotions solely by your own strength. Build a close relationship with God every day through prayer, God’s Word, and obedience to Him. When our hearts are filled with His presence, we are no longer ruled by emotions but led by God’s wisdom and love. That is true spirituality—evident not only during worship but also in the way we live our daily lives.

What To Do?
1. Take a breath and pray first before responding when emotions run high.
2. Learn to resolve conflicts properly.
3. Build a close relationship with God every day.
