Today’s Devotional is titled:
Discipline in Freedom
“Train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things…” – 1 Timothy 4:7b–8a
People often think, “If I’m free, why bother with discipline?” But true freedom actually requires training. Just like an athlete who is free to choose their career but still lives with discipline to win.
The same goes for our spiritual lives. We’re free not to pray, but if we truly want to grow, we’ll discipline ourselves. Real freedom shows in our willingness to restrain ourselves for a greater good.
Jesus Himself, though He was the Son of God, lived a life of disciplined prayer, service, and worship. Not out of obligation, but out of love.
Freedom isn’t the enemy of discipline. In fact, without discipline, we risk becoming enslaved again, not by the law, but by our fleshly desires.
What to Do:
1. Create a simple weekly schedule: set times for devotion, prayer, Bible reading, and reflection.
2. Practice consistency, not for performance, but to deepen your relationship with God.
