Dare to Be Corrected, Dare to Change
1 Peter 1:15
“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;”
Hi, Rehobot Youth! There are habits or lifestyles that might feel ordinary simply because we have repeated them often or because our environment considers them normal. Our social habits, the things we watch, our use of social media, a tendency to lie, or things done in secret can slowly distance us from a holy life. When God begins to show us that something needs fixing, we need the humility to acknowledge it rather than making excuses to hold onto it.
God’s Word teaches that holiness must be evident in every aspect of our lives. Therefore, we need to be diligent in reading the Bible, listening to sermons, and praying. Through His Word, God helps us recognize habits that we might have considered normal but are actually not in accordance with His will. In prayer, we learn to open our hearts and ask God to reveal the areas of our lives that still need to change.
Rehobot Youth, God often speaks through people who care about us. Parents, spiritual leaders, teachers, or close friends sometimes notice habits before we do. When they have the courage to correct us, resist the urge to feel offended or look for excuses. Listen first, then weigh the correction against God’s Word. From there, we can learn what needs to be left behind so that we break free from unholy habits and lifestyles.
So, Rehobot Youth, don’t just be willing to hear correction—have the courage to take steps toward change. Leave behind habits that do not please God and build a lifestyle that increasingly reflects the character of Christ. Humility is evident when we are willing to acknowledge what is wrong, accept God’s correction, and allow Him to transform our entire lives.
What To Do?
1. Re-examine the habits and lifestyle you have been living.
2. Learn to be sensitive to the things God wants to change in your life.
3. Build habits that reflect holiness in your daily life.
