Today’s devotional is titled:
Coming Because You Long for Him, Not Because You Have To
“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, my God.”
📖 Psalm 42:2
Rehobot Youth, there is a big difference between coming because you long for God and coming out of obligation. One gives life; the other drains you. Healthy faith is always born out of longing, not force.
The psalmist isn’t talking about spiritual routines, but about a soul that is thirsty for God. When we live with gratitude, our hearts are slowly restored so we can long for God again—not just carry out spiritual activities.
Gratitude helps us remember why we came to God in the first place. Not because we have to, but because we need Him. Not because we’re afraid, but because we love Him.
This Sunday, let’s come before God with a heart that longs for Him, not a heart that feels forced. Because God always values a sincere response.
What To Do:
1. Ask your heart: do I come to God because I long for Him, or because it’s routine?
2. Give thanks for the opportunity to worship today.
3. Allow God to restore your longing for Him again.
