Come Home, Your Heart Needs Rest

Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Rehobot Youth, there are days when our bodies are still able to keep going, but our hearts feel so weary. It’s not because we have too much work, but because we have too many things on our minds. Worries about the future, disappointments that haven’t healed, unanswered prayers, or struggles that seem never-ending. Often we say, “I’m fine,” when in reality our hearts are just trying to hold on. We learn to smile in front of others, but when we’re alone, we realize there’s a burden we’ve been carrying for far too long.

Jesus didn’t say, “Come to Me when you’re strong.” Nor did He say, “Come to Me after all your problems are solved.” Instead, He invites us to come precisely when we’re weary. God knows that human strength has its limits. He doesn’t demand that we always appear strong. What He wants is a heart that is willing to come to Him and trust Him. Coming to God doesn’t mean all our problems are instantly solved, but it means we no longer have to bear them alone. He gives us peace that guards our hearts and hope that enables us to take steps forward again.

Imagine someone on a long journey carrying a very heavy backpack. The longer they walk, the slower their pace becomes. Their shoulders begin to ache, and their strength is nearly gone. Midway through the journey, they find a place to rest. They set down their backpack, sit for a moment, take a deep breath, and then continue their journey with renewed strength. The mountain they must climb hasn’t changed. The path remains the same. But because they dared to pause for a moment and set down their burden, they regained the strength to walk. The same is true for our lives. Problems may not be resolved today, but when we lay our burdens before God, our hearts are restored to face the journey ahead.

Rehobot Youth, resting doesn’t mean giving up. Resting means entrusting our burdens to God so that we may gain new strength. It’s okay if you feel tired today. It’s okay if tears are still flowing or if prayer feels hard to utter. Don’t turn away from God. Return to Him, for in His presence there is a place for weary hearts to be restored. The most peaceful soul is not the one who lives without problems, but the one who knows to whom he brings every burden.

What To Do?
1. Come to God just as you are.
2. Take time to enjoy God’s presence.
3. Trust in God’s timing.
