Life in this age is increasingly uncertain. Everything can change so quickly and is difficult to predict. In the past, change took a long time and was often foreseeable, but now everything happens within days—or even hours. In the realms of politics, economics, and social life, unexpected things frequently occur. Someone once overlooked can suddenly become a leader, while those expected to succeed may instead be cast aside. Prices rise and fall without pattern, circumstances shift beyond control, and all of it stirs up anxiety.
As a result, many people live in fear and worry. Hearts become restless; minds are filled with troubling thoughts—“what if this happens, what if that happens.” Yet God teaches us to place our complete trust in Him. Believing in God is not merely believing in His power to help or protect us, but believing in His very person—that whatever He allows to happen will not harm us. Nothing happens by chance; everything is under God’s supervision. Therefore, we must say, “Lord, I place my life in Your hands.”
Surrendering our lives to God is not merely for our own peace of mind; it also means being willing to follow His plan—a person who truly surrenders to God no longer clings to personal ambitions. Everything is brought before God—plans, decisions, even desires. The Word of God says, “Your life is like a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” Therefore, in every step of life, we should say, “If the Lord wills.”
We often learn from the failures that come from not involving God in our plans. We make decisions based on our own calculations, thinking they will surely benefit us, but they end up in loss and shame. We pray for God to bless our plans, promising to offer thanks if they succeed. Yet, in truth, our motives are often rooted in personal ambition, rather than obedience to God’s will. Sometimes God does not grant our prayers—and that may actually be His most incredible grace, for He is protecting us from something harmful.
God’s Word in Jeremiah 29:11 affirms that His plans are for peace and not for harm. If we do not yet have what we desire—a home, a life partner, or success—do not be impatient. God knows the right time for everything. When the time comes, He will provide it Himself. Therefore, we must not try to pressure God through prayer or fasting merely to satisfy our own desires.
We may certainly pray for our needs, but our prayers should be accompanied by a heart of surrender: “Lord, whatever happens, I entrust myself to You.” Surrender does not mean passivity or giving up without effort—it means actively seeking God’s will and walking in His direction. To surrender is to understand and obey God’s plan, not to impose our own. God knows what is best, when it is best, and how it should be done.
Sometimes God seems silent, but in truth, He is shaping us through patience and perseverance. Behind every delay lies divine purpose. Within every hardship, there is a plan of peace that God is working out. Therefore, do not rely on human logic, which is limited. Many things are beyond our understanding, but nothing is beyond God’s control.
Let us learn to believe and to surrender—to believe that God’s plan is never wrong, and to surrender to His perfect will. In doing so, we live not by our own strength, but by faith in the God who governs all things in love. The world may change, but His plan remains, and His peace will be the portion of those who believe.
