Called to Follow Jesus
Matthew 9:9
“As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. ‘Follow Me,’ He told him, and Matthew got up and followed Him.”
That day, Matthew was working at the tax booth, counting money. Many people didn’t like him because he often collected more taxes than he should, just to make himself richer. To most people, Matthew was a “sinner” who didn’t deserve attention. But Jesus came to him and gently said, “Follow Me.”
There were no long speeches, no promises of rewards—just two simple words that changed Matthew’s entire life. Matthew looked at Jesus, got up, and left his table behind. He knew that following Jesus was worth far more than all the money he had.
Imagine that, Truth Junior Friends! Matthew was willing to leave everything for the Lord. From someone who was seen as “unworthy,” he became a faithful disciple and even wrote the Gospel of Matthew that we still read today.
Sometimes, God also calls us in the middle of our daily lives—at school, at home, or at church. Maybe it’s through a small urge to help a friend, pray for someone, or stay honest even when it’s hard. Every small choice to obey can be a big step in following Jesus.
Truth Junior Friends, nothing is too ordinary for God to use. Just like Matthew, you can be a hero of faith who shares Jesus’ love through your life.
So, Truth Junior Friends, listen to His call today—and start walking with Jesus!
