Today’s devotional is titled:
Being a Light
Matthew 5:14
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Alice was in 5th grade. She had a close friend named Indah. For a whole week, Indah hadn’t come to school. Usually, she would let Alice know, but this time she didn’t. Alice grew worried because Indah’s phone number couldn’t be reached either.
The next day, Alice heard that Indah’s mother was sick and needed to go to the doctor. Sadly, Indah’s family was facing financial struggles, so they couldn’t afford the treatment. Alice felt sad, then prayed to God and asked what she could do to help.
God gave Alice an idea. She decided to ask her classmates to collect money for Indah. With her teacher’s permission, Alice spoke to her class, and everyone agreed to join in. Alice remembered God’s Word in Matthew 5:16: “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
As a child of God, Alice knew she had to be a blessing and a light to others. After the money was collected, she found Indah’s house and brought the help to her friend. Indah was shocked and moved to tears by Alice’s kindness. Alice had truly been a blessing to her.
Truth Junior friends, let’s also learn to be a light wherever we are, so that others may see the love of Jesus through our lives.
