Today’s devotional is titled:
Ask for wisdom
1 Kings 3:9
“So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
Have you ever felt unsure about what the right thing to do is? For example, you see your friend fall off their bike. Instead of helping, the other kids laugh—but deep down, you know you should help. You want to, but you’re afraid they’ll laugh at you too. At moments like that, you need wisdom from God to know what’s right and to have the courage to do it.
King Solomon once faced an even bigger choice. One night, God appeared to him in a dream and said, “Ask for whatever you want Me to give you.” Wow! If that happened to you, what would you ask for, Truth Junior Friends? A new toy, a phone, or perfect grades?
But Solomon didn’t ask for any of those things. Instead, he asked for wisdom so he could lead his people well. God was very pleased because Solomon wasn’t selfish—he cared about others more than himself. So God gave him extraordinary wisdom, greater than anyone else in his time.
Truth Junior Friends, wisdom is more valuable than anything else! With wisdom, you’ll know how to treat your friends, make good choices, and live in a way that pleases God. And the good news is—God also wants to give you wisdom if you truly ask for it.
So, whenever you feel confused or afraid to do what’s right, remember to pray and ask God for wisdom. With God’s wisdom, you can become a wise child who brings blessings to many people!
