Today’s devotional is titled:
A True Friend
“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”
Proverbs 17:17
Having lots of friends is easy. But having a true friend? That’s rare. When things are good, everyone can show up. But when you’re tired, disappointed, or falling apart—who still stays?
God’s Word says that a true friend loves at all times. Not only when things are going well. Not only when you’re funny, successful, or useful. A true friend keeps loving even when you have nothing to offer. In fact, they become like a brother or sister in times of trouble.
Jesus teaches us the true meaning of friendship. He remained faithful to His disciples even when they failed, denied Him, and ran away. From this, we learn that true love is consistent, not conditional.
So today’s question isn’t just, Who is my friend?
But also, Have I been a faithful friend?
Because healthy friendships don’t just make us feel comfortable—they help us grow. A true friend doesn’t walk away; they walk alongside us, strengthen us, and encourage us to keep walking with God.
What To Do:
1. Think of one person God has entrusted to you as a friend in your life.
2. Pray for them today—specifically and sincerely.
3. Take one real action: listen, support, or be present for them, without waiting to be asked.
