Being a blessing to others should become a constant rhythm in our lives—something that flows naturally, whether we are aware of it or not. Our lives should allow others to experience and receive the goodness of God, and this starts with those closest to us: our spouse, children, parents, family members, household assistants, drivers, coworkers, supervisors, or business partners. Wherever we are, God wants to use us as channels of blessing to those we encounter.
Blessing others doesn’t always have to come in the form of money or material goods. Our words, greetings, attitudes, and actions can allow others to feel God’s goodness. No word—whether spoken directly, sent through text, or written on digital platforms—should hurt others. Let us ask for God’s help so that our lives truly become a channel of blessing.
To do that, we must be filled with God. We need to continually study the Word, purify our thoughts and hearts, and pray earnestly so that God dwells in us. Unfortunately, many Christians end up being obstacles rather than channels of blessing. God wants to bless those around us, but we block the channel through lives filled with anger, resentment, hatred, lustful thoughts, pride, and love for worldly luxury.
When we are busy indulging in sin and worldly pleasures, God’s blessings cannot flow through us. The people who should have been blessed through our presence do not feel it. That is why we must guard our words and attitudes so they do not hurt but instead bring peace and lead others toward the Kingdom of God. We must be instruments of love, channels of mercy, comforters, and even givers of bread to those in need.
We learn from Jesus, our Lord and Savior, to become poured-out wine and broken bread. If we acknowledge Jesus as Lord, we must obey and follow His will. If we recognize Him as Savior, then our lives must demonstrate His life. Salvation means being restored to God’s original design.
Acknowledging Jesus as Savior means being willing to undergo continuous renewal so that we increasingly reflect the image and likeness of God. Only those who align with God’s design—those who bear His divine nature—can radiate His glory and share His thoughts and feelings with others. We must commit to learning diligently. Many of us are lagging, though by now we should have reached greater maturity. We should be increasingly conformed to God’s image, but because so much time has been wasted, our spiritual formation has been slow. Yet now, let us begin in earnest to learn to become children of God who are pleasing in His sight.
