A Change in Zacchaeus’s House
Luke 19:8
“But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, ‘Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.’”
Hello, Truth Junior Friends!
Zacchaeus was a rich man, but not many people liked him. He often cheated when collecting taxes. One day, he heard that Jesus was coming to his town. Because he was short, Zacchaeus climbed a sycamore tree so he could see Jesus from above.
But guess what? Jesus stopped right under that tree and called out, “Zacchaeus, come down! Today I must stay at your house.”
Can you imagine how surprised and happy Zacchaeus was? Jesus wanted to visit the home of someone everyone else saw as a sinner! From that moment, Zacchaeus’s life completely changed. He felt sorry for what he had done and decided to return the money he had stolen. He also began to help the poor.
Truth Junior Friends, when our hearts are truly open to Jesus, He can change our lives too. God doesn’t focus on our past mistakes—He looks at a heart that wants to repent.
You can follow Zacchaeus’s example by fixing small mistakes in your own life. Maybe it’s admitting when you’ve told a lie, sharing with a friend in need, or saying sorry when you’ve hurt someone.
Every time you choose to change for the better, Jesus’s love is working inside you. That’s what it means to be a hero of faith—a person whose heart is transformed and who brings light to others.
