Faith That Stands

James 1:2-4
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

Hi, Rehobot Youth! It’s easy to say we believe in God when everything is going well. But what about when prayers go unanswered, plans fail, problems keep coming, or we have to keep doing what’s right even when it feels hard? It’s in moments like these that the quality of our spiritual life is revealed. Spirituality isn’t just about how enthusiastic we are during worship, but also how steadfast we remain in walking with God when things don’t go as expected.

James explains that testing of faith produces perseverance. This means the difficulties we face can be a process that builds spiritual resilience. God doesn’t always immediately remove every problem, but He can use that process to help our faith mature. We learn to keep believing when we haven’t seen an answer yet, to remain obedient when God’s choices feel difficult, and to stay faithful when our hearts want to give up.

Rehobot Youth, spiritual resilience doesn’t mean we never get tired, disappointed, or cry. Spiritual resilience means that in the midst of all that, we still choose to return to God. We keep praying, hold fast to His Word, continue to do what is right, and don’t let circumstances dictate our loyalty. The more we persevere with God, the more our character is shaped into one that is steadfast, mature, and not easily shaken by circumstances.

Therefore, Rehobot Youth, don’t measure your spiritual life solely by what happens when you’re at church. Look at how you navigate difficult days. When pressure comes but you keep believing, when you’re disappointed but remain faithful, and when you fail but choose to rise again with God—that’s where spirituality becomes real. A growing faith isn’t just a faith that knows about God, but a faith that continues to walk with God in every circumstance.

What To Do?
1. Keep coming to God when times are tough.
2. Practice faithfulness in your daily life.
3. See difficulties as opportunities to grow.
