A Fruitful Character

Matthew 7:17
“Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.”

Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever seen a tree that looks healthy but never bears fruit? Jesus used the image of a tree and its fruit to show that what’s inside will be evident in what it produces. The same is true of our spiritual lives. A close relationship with God isn’t just about spiritual words—it should produce tangible character and actions in our daily lives.

One example is William Wilberforce, a member of the British Parliament who lived from the late 18th to the early 19th century. After experiencing a profound spiritual transformation, his faith shaped how he viewed life and his responsibilities. Wilberforce went on to become a key figure in the long struggle against the British slave trade. Alongside many others, he continued to fight for change despite facing widespread opposition. His faith did not stop at personal conviction; it drove him to stand up for what he believed was right before God.

Rehobot Youth, we may not be in Parliament or facing challenges as monumental as those Wilberforce faced. However, every day we have the opportunity to bear good fruit. Choosing to be honest when there’s a chance to cheat, standing up for a friend who’s being treated unfairly, forgiving those who hurt us, or caring for someone in need are simple examples of how Christ’s character becomes evident. True spirituality always moves from a relationship with God toward a life that makes a difference.

Therefore, Rehobot Youth, don’t just ask how much you know about God’s Word, but also ask what kind of fruit your life is producing. The closer we are to Christ, the more His character should be evident through our words, decisions, and actions. Faith deeply rooted in God will produce a fruitful character and be a blessing to others.

What To Do?
1. Evaluate whether your words and actions reflect the character of Christ.
2. Choose to be honest, caring, and courageous in doing what is right.
3. Build a relationship with God through prayer and His Word.
