A Wise Step
Daniel 1:8
“But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.”
Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever felt confused when having to make a decision? Sometimes, the easiest choice isn’t the right one. At school, on campus, at work, or even on social media, we often face pressure to go with the flow just to fit in. In moments like those, our decisions are determined not only by intelligence (IQ) or the ability to understand situations (EQ) but also by our closeness to God (SQ).
Daniel was a young man living far from his homeland. He found himself in an environment with values and a culture that differed from the faith he held. Despite this, Daniel resolved to live according to God’s will. His decision was driven not by the fear of people, but by his commitment to God. His closeness to God gave him the wisdom to choose what was right, even when it wasn’t the easiest option.
Rehobot Youth, every day we too are faced with small decisions that shape our future. Choosing friends, deciding what to watch, using social media, managing time, or responding to peer pressure might seem simple, but all of these things shape our character. Intelligence helps us understand the available choices, but wisdom from God helps us choose the path that pleases Him. That is why spirituality (SQ) serves as the foundation that guides both IQ and EQ.
Therefore, Rehobot Youth, do not think that closeness to God is important only when you are at church. Build a close relationship with Him every day through prayer, God’s Word, and obedience. When your life is led by God, you will have the wisdom to make the right decisions, even if they differ from the choices of the majority. For the wisest steps always begin with a heart that is close to God.
What To Do?
1. Involve God in every decision.
2. Have the courage to remain faithful to the truth.
3. Cultivate your spirituality every day.
