Relationships Guided by God’s Wisdom
1 Corinthians 15:33
“Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
Rehobot Youth, every day we encounter many people—at school, on campus, at work, in our communities, and on social media. Without realizing it, the people we listen to and follow most often shape our mindset, habits, and even the direction of our lives. Therefore, choosing our circle of friends is not merely about compatibility or comfort; it is about who is shaping our lives.
Many people think that choosing friends requires only intellectual intelligence (IQ) or emotional intelligence (EQ). We might be able to assess someone’s character or feel at ease with them. However, the Bible teaches that we also need wisdom from God. Spirituality (SQ)—or closeness to God—helps us see beyond mere first impressions. God’s wisdom enables us to distinguish between relationships that build up our faith and those that slowly draw us away from His will.
Rehobot Youth, closeness to God keeps us from being easily swept along by the crowd simply because we want to be accepted or fear standing out. As our relationship with God deepens, the Holy Spirit grants us the courage to say “no” to negative influences and the wisdom to build healthy relationships. Good company isn’t just about having fun together; it is about encouraging one another to grow in character, love, and the truth of God’s Word.
Therefore, Rehobot Youth, do not choose friends simply because they are fun to hang out with; choose relationships that help you know God better. Build a strong spiritual life through prayer, God’s Word, and fellowship with those who love the Lord. When SQ serves as the foundation for IQ and EQ, you will possess the wisdom to choose relationships that build you up, be a blessing to others, and remain faithful in living according to God’s will.

2. Cultivate closeness with God every day.
3. Be a positive influence.
