True Joy in God Alone

Philippians 4:4
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”

Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever felt that your joy is heavily dependent on your circumstances? When everything goes as expected, it’s easy to smile and feel enthusiastic. But when problems arise, results fall short of expectations, relationships begin to crack, or plans don’t go as intended, that joy slowly fades away. Without realizing it, we start to let our circumstances determine our happiness.

However, God’s Word teaches something different. Paul wrote, “Rejoice in the Lord always,” not when his life was comfortable, but while he was in prison. Humanly speaking, Paul had plenty of reasons to complain. Yet he chose to remain joyful because the source of his joy was not his circumstances, but the unchanging God. True joy springs from the conviction that God remains in control of our lives, no matter what we’re facing.

Rehobot Youth, the world offers many things that seem capable of bringing happiness—achievements, popularity, relationships, or accomplishments. All of these are blessings to be grateful for, but none of them are permanent. When these things become the source of our joy, our hearts will easily fluctuate with our circumstances. On the other hand, when our lives are rooted in Christ, we have joy that endures because God’s love, presence, and faithfulness never change.

Therefore, Rehobot Youth, don’t let circumstances dictate your joy. Learn to keep your eyes fixed on God through every season of life. When you rejoice in the Lord, you will find peace that does not depend on success or failure. For true joy is not a life without problems, but a life with God who is always with us in the midst of every problem.

What To Do?
1. Evaluate the source of your joy.
2. Train your heart to be grateful every day.
3. Build a close relationship with God.
