Joy Beyond Achievements
Psalm 16:11
“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever felt incredibly happy after achieving something? For example, getting good grades, winning a competition, being accepted into your dream college, or getting a promotion at work. All of these are certainly worth being grateful for. However, have you ever realized that this feeling of happiness is often only temporary? Once one goal is achieved, the next one appears that we must pursue. Without realizing it, we keep running after new achievements just to feel that same happiness.
Before we know it, we might start measuring our self-worth by our accomplishments. When we succeed, we feel proud and confident. But when we fail, we easily get disappointed, lose our enthusiasm, and even question our self-worth. God’s Word reminds us that true joy does not come from what we manage to achieve, but from His presence. David said that in the presence of the Lord there is abundant joy and eternal delight. This means that the source of our joy is not fleeting results, but the unchanging Person of God.
This doesn’t mean God doesn’t want us to excel. On the contrary, He calls us to do everything to the best of our ability. However, achievement is the result of our faithfulness, not the source of our identity. When our relationship with God is our top priority, we will remain humble in success and hold onto hope in the face of failure. Our joy no longer depends on human applause, but on God’s unfailing love.
Rehobot Youth, pursue your dreams wholeheartedly, study diligently, and give your best in every opportunity. However, don’t let your achievements define who you are. Remember that before you achieve anything, God has already loved you. In His presence, you will find joy that does not depend on grades, awards, titles, or the recognition of others. Achievements may bring momentary satisfaction, but only God can fill your heart forever.
What To Do?
1. Realize that your worth comes from God’s love, not your achievements.
2. Don’t let failure define your worth.
3. Make God the source of your joy.
