Called for His Purpose
The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
— Judges 6:14
Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever felt confused about your future? Perhaps you ask yourself, “What is my actual potential?” “Can my life be meaningful to others?” or even, “Does God really have a plan for me?”
Gideon experienced a similar struggle. When God called him to lead the nation of Israel, his initial response was doubt. He felt he came from an insignificant family and considered himself the least worthy of all. In his own eyes, there was nothing special about him.
But God saw Gideon differently. God did not call Gideon because he was already strong, brave, or ready. God called him because He Himself would be with him. Beyond all the limitations Gideon saw, God saw potential and a purpose that Gideon had not yet realized.
Often, we too focus too much on our own shortcomings. We compare ourselves to others and feel inadequate. Yet, discovering life’s purpose isn’t about becoming like someone else; it is about becoming the person God designed us to be from the very beginning.
Rehobot Youth, life’s purpose isn’t always discovered in a single day. Sometimes, God reveals it through the small steps we take with Him. Don’t let fear or feelings of unworthiness hold you back. If God called Gideon—who was full of doubt—He is also capable of leading your life toward the purpose He has prepared.
What to Do?
• Stop comparing yourself to others.
• Surrender your dreams and your future to God in prayer.
• Be faithful to the opportunities and responsibilities God has entrusted to you today.
