Today’s reflection is titled:
Don’t Delay Any Longer
“Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!”
— Proverbs 6:6
Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever said, “I’ll do it later…”? Studying later, doing assignments later, apologizing later, or starting to live a more disciplined life later. It might seem trivial at first, but the habit of procrastination can cause us to miss out on many opportunities for growth.
Interestingly, the Bible invites us to learn from a tiny creature: the ant. Ants don’t wait until they are forced to work. They diligently do what needs to be done and prepare for their needs little by little. That is why the ant is cited as an example of wisdom.
Often, we actually know what needs to be done. We know we should be more disciplined in our studies, more responsible with our tasks, more serious about maintaining our relationship with God, or that we need to make amends for mistakes we’ve made. Yet, laziness and the habit of procrastination keep us saying, “Tomorrow.”
However, growth doesn’t happen because of good intentions, but because of the steps we actually take. God doesn’t ask us to become perfect overnight, but He longs to see us faithful in the small things entrusted to us today.
Rehobot Youth, don’t let the habit of procrastination hinder the potential God has given you. A small step taken today can be the beginning of a major change in the future. Learn from the ant: be diligent, hardworking, and responsible in every opportunity God gives you.
What to Do?
• Identify one thing you have been putting off.
• Take one concrete step to start working on it today.
• Ask God to help you become a diligent, disciplined, and responsible person.
