Keep Coming to God

But the Lord replied, “Is it right for you to be angry?”
— Jonah 4:4

Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever felt disappointed with God? You prayed, hoped, and believed that God would act, yet reality turned out differently than you imagined. That is often when the question arises: “God, why did it have to be this way?”

Jonah experienced that same struggle. He was angry because God showed mercy to the people of Nineveh. Jonah did not understand God’s decision and poured out his disappointment. Interestingly, God did not abandon Jonah; instead, He engaged him in conversation and shaped his perspective.

Sometimes we think that being angry or disappointed with God makes us unworthy of coming to Him again. Consequently, we choose to pull away. Yet, God desires honesty more than pretense. He is capable of holding every tear, every question, and even the struggles we do not yet understand.

Rehobot Youth, if you are harboring disappointment today, do not let it sever your relationship with God. Keep coming to Him. We may not receive immediate answers, but we can trust that God is still at work and never abandons His children.

What to Do?
• Be honest with God about the disappointment and questions in your heart.
• Do not distance yourself from God when struggles arise.
• Continue to build your relationship with God, even when you do not yet understand His plan.
