Today’s devotional is titled:
A Better Answer
“Look at the nations and watch—and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.”
— Habakkuk 1:5
Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever felt like your prayers weren’t being heard? You’ve prayed, hoped, and even tried your best, yet circumstances remained unchanged. Sometimes we hope for an immediate answer from God, but instead, we face a period of waiting or receive an answer different from what we expected.
The prophet Habakkuk experienced the same thing. He cried out to God because he saw so much injustice and wickedness around him. Habakkuk wanted God to act immediately. Yet, when God answered, the response wasn’t what he had imagined. God was working in a way Habakkuk did not understand at the time.
Through Habakkuk’s experience, we learn that God never ignores the prayers of His children. However, God does not always work according to the timing and methods we desire. There are times when God sees something far greater than what is visible to us right now. What appears to be a delay or a rejection is often part of His better plan.
The same can happen in our lives. There may be dreams yet to be realized, prayers yet to be answered, or plans that didn’t go as expected. Yet, this does not mean God has forgotten us. Amidst processes we do not yet understand, God continues to work and guide our lives toward the best outcome according to His will.
Rehobot Youth, when God’s answer differs from your expectations, do not be quick to lose faith. Learn to trust that God sees further than we do. He cares not only about what we ask for but also about the person we are being shaped into.
What to Do?
• Look back on your life’s journey and remember how God has been with you all along.
• Do not view a “no” or “not yet” as the end of the story.
• Learn to trust God, even when you do not yet understand His ways.
