My Grace Is Sufficient
“But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9
Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever felt, “I’ve prayed, served, and tried to live righteously, but why haven’t my prayers been answered?” Meanwhile, you see others seemingly getting what they prayed for much more easily. Without realizing it, your heart begins to compare, feel disappointed, and even ask, “Lord, do You still care about me?”
When we are in that state, we need to be careful. Disappointment often becomes a gateway for doubt. We start to judge God’s love based on whether or not our prayers are granted. Yet, the primary purpose of prayer is not to make God follow our desires, but to bring us to know His heart more deeply.
The Apostle Paul experienced something similar. He pleaded three times for the “thorn in the flesh” that troubled him to be removed. However, God did not answer according to his expectations. Instead, God said, “My grace is sufficient for you.” God did not take away the struggle, but He provided the strength to endure it.
Through Paul’s experience, we learn that God does not always change our circumstances, but He is always at work changing us. Sometimes God does not immediately remove a problem because He is shaping our character, deepening our faith, and teaching us to rely on Him. What appears to be a rejection might actually be a loving process of transformation.
Rehobot Youth, if your prayer hasn’t been answered the way you hoped today, don’t immediately conclude that God isn’t listening to you. His grace remains sufficient. His presence remains real. And often, God’s greatest work does not happen when circumstances change, but when our hearts are transformed to become more like Christ.
What to Do?
• Be honest with God about your disappointments and struggles.
• Stop comparing your life’s journey with others.
• Continue to trust that God’s grace is sufficient to sustain you through every season of life.
