Today’s devotional is titled:
Living with God’s Perspective
“When Daniel heard that the decree had been issued, he went home. In his upper room, there were windows open toward Jerusalem; three times a day he knelt down, prayed, and gave thanks to his God, just as he had always done.” — Daniel 6:11
Daniel lived in an environment that did not know God. He was in Babylon, a place with a culture and way of life different from the faith he held. However, Daniel did not let the world around him change who he was. He maintained his relationship with God and lived according to God’s perspective, not the pressures of his environment.
When there was a ban on praying to God, Daniel did not panic or go with the flow. He continued doing what had always been his habit: seeking God. Daniel knew that his relationship with God was far more important than the world’s acceptance. That is why he was able to remain steadfast even though he had to be different from others.
Often, the world shapes our way of thinking without us realizing it. We begin to measure the value of life by popularity, social media validation, or others’ approval. As a result, many people live only to be accepted by their surroundings, not to please God. However, those who know the living God will have a different perspective and won’t easily be swept away by the world’s currents.
Rehobot Youth, knowing God will change the way we view life. We don’t have to follow every trend just to be accepted. When our hearts are close to God, He will help us have the right perspective and the courage to continue living according to His will.
What to Do?
• Evaluate: Is your perspective shaped more by God or by the world?
• Build a personal relationship with God every day through prayer and His Word.
• Have the courage to live righteously even if it means being different from those around you.
