Respect with Wisdom

Ephesians 6:2-3
“Honor your father and mother—this is the first commandment with a promise: so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

Rehobot Youth, honoring parents and authority figures doesn’t mean we always have to stay silent or can’t have an opinion. But it also doesn’t mean we’re free to argue emotionally. The key lies in our attitude: remain respectful, but also be wise.

There are moments when we might disagree, or even feel that the decisions made aren’t in line with the values we hold in God. In those moments, we learn one important thing: how we convey our thoughts is just as important as what we say. We can still disagree without causing harm.

The Bible teaches us to live in truth, but also in love. This means that if we need to voice an objection or negotiate, do so with a calm heart, polite words, and the right intention—not to win, but to seek what is best in God’s sight.

Spiritual maturity is evident when we can control our emotions, choose our words carefully, and continue to respect the authority God has placed. Because respect doesn’t mean always agreeing, but maintaining a respectful attitude even when we disagree.

What To Do?
• Express your opinion calmly, not emotionally.
• Choose words that build up, not words that hurt.
• Remain respectful, while standing firm in the truth.
