Today’s Devotional Title:
Boundaries Protect the Future
2 Timothy 2:22
“Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”
Youth is full of drive. Ambition, the desire to be recognized, curiosity, peer pressure—all of these are very strong. Paul doesn’t say “try to control it a little,” but says to flee from it. This means that there are things that must be kept at a distance in order to protect the future.
Limits do not mean that our lives are restricted. Rather, limits protect our direction. If we live without boundaries, we are easily swept away. But when we dare to say no to things that undermine our faith, we are protecting something greater: God’s calling on our lives.
Don’t think of boundaries as enemies of freedom. Boundaries born out of fear of God actually protect the future. The courage to set boundaries today could be the reason you remain strong tomorrow.
What to Do?
1. Distance yourself from things that weaken your faith.
2. Set clear boundaries in relationships and lifestyle.
3. Choose a community that pursues a pure life.
