Today’s Devotional Title:
Saying No Wisely

Daniel 1:8
“Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.”

Sometimes we are afraid to say “no” because we are worried that we will be seen as uncool, uncaring, or unloving. In fact, the courage to say “no” can be the most mature form of love. Daniel set a clear example. He refused the king’s food not because he was spiritually arrogant, but because he knew who he was before God.

Daniel could have just gone with the flow to be safe and accepted. But he realized that one small compromise could open the door to bigger compromises. The boundaries he set were not to distance himself from others, but to keep his identity and relationship with God pure. And God honored that steadfastness.

In our lives, pressure is real. It comes from friends, partners, our environment, and even social media trends. But loving others does not mean following all their desires. Healthy love has boundaries. Without boundaries, we can lose our direction and our faith can slowly erode.

So don’t be afraid to say “no” if it protects your heart and your calling in life. Healthy boundaries don’t make you lose love, but keep your love on the right track.

What to Do?
1. Dare to say no to things that destroy your faith and future.
2. Set clear boundaries in relationships from the start.
3. Remember, maintaining your identity in God is more important than being accepted by everyone.
